Hockey Info Prestigious Hockey Awards Khel Rattna Award
The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna is awarded for spectacular and most outstanding performances in the field of sports. Only one Khel Ratna is awarded every year. It was first instituted in 1991-92. The award consists of a cash prize (currently Rs. 3,00,000), a scroll of honour, a plaque, blazer and tie/scarf. The Khel Ratna award for the year 1999-2000 was given to Mr. Dhanraj Pillay.
