            <title>Air India, Mumbai clinched the title</title>

<p>Jalandhar, Oct. 15: Air India, Mumbai clinched the title of 28th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament by beating Holders Indian Oil Mumbai  by 4-2 at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. Air India Mumbai won this title for the first time. The winners bagged 2.50 Lakh, Trophy and One quintal Almonds where as Runners up bagged 1.50 Lakhs and Trophy. Affan Yousuf of Indian Oil Mumbai declared the best player of the tournament and awarded Gold Medal.. Cheif Guest Tikshan Sud Cabinet Minister Punjab gave away the prizes. Surjit Hockey Society facilitate Pargat Singh with Life time achievement award with One lakh rupees. Pargat Singh donated this money for the upliftment of Junior Hockey in the State.</p>

<p>In the Final Match of the Tournament both teams played controlled hockey. In the 8th minute of the play Deepak Thakur of Indian Oil missed the chance to score. IN 10th minute of the play Air India’s Sammed Dad not able to convert a golden chance. In the 18th minute of the play Dharamvir singh of Indian Oil put their team ahead with field goal from left flank (1-0). At half time Indian Oil was leading by 1-0. After the lemon break Air India Put pressure on Indian Oil and scored the equalizer in the 45th minute of the play, when Joga Singh netted the ball from the top of the circle (1-1).  In the 49th minute of the play Air India took the lead when Rahul Shilpkar converted the penalty corner (2-1).  In the 52nd minute of the play Indian Oil’s Affan Yousuf converted the penalty corner to equalize (2-2). Three minutes later Air India earned the penalty corner. This time Rahul Shilpkar converted the second penalty corner (3-2).In the 67th minute of the play Rahul Shilpkar converted the third penalty corner for Air India (4-2).</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><img class="imgborder" src="http://www.surjithockey.in/images/stories/website/news/14-10-2011.JPG" border="0" width="620" height="434" /><br /><br />Jalandhar,  Oct. 14: Holders Indian Oil will clash swords with Air India in the finals of the 28th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament ay Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium on Saturday at 7-00 PM at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here.  Today in the semi finals Experienced Star Studded Air India Mumbai beat Namdhari XI by 2-0 where as Indian Oil edged out Bharat Petroleum by 6-3. Last year also both teams clashed in the finals.</p>

<p>In the first semi finals of the tournament Air India Mumbai not gave any chance to Namdhari’s. In the 5th minute of the play Air India took the lead when lalit Upadhyay scored the field from the pass of Joga Singh (1-0). After that Namdhari XI wasted penalty corner in the 9th minute of the play. In the 30th minute of the play Lalit Upadhyay struck once again, when Ajmer Singh gave a lovely cross from right flank (2-0). At half time Air India was leading by 2-0. After the lemon break Air India again put pressure on Namdhari’s but their defenders not allow them to took lead. In the 55th minute of the play Namdhari’s Sukhchain Singh wasted a golden chance to reduce the margin.<br /><br />The Chief Guest Parminder Singh Dhindsa Cabinet Minister Punjab gave away Rs 2 lakhs to the organizing committee.</p>

<p>In the second semi final Holders Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum displayed good and fast hockey. In the 3rd minute of the play Bharat Petroleum Mumbai took lead with penalty corner conversion by Gurpreet Singh (1-0). In the 15th minute of the play Indian Oil’s Affan Yousuf scored the equalizer (1-1). In the 17th minute of the play Bharat Petroleum once again took the lead when Jarnail Singh scored the field goal (2-1). In the 23rd minute of the play Didar Singh of Indian Oil converted the penalty corner ( 2-2). In the 26th minute of the play Indian Oil’s Captain Deepak Thakur sounded the board (3-2). In 29th minute Didar Singh converted the penalty stroke to consolidate (4-2). In the 33rd minute of the play Affan Yousuf scored the fifth goal for Indian Oil (5-2). At half time Indian Oil was leading by 5-2. In the second half’s 42nd minute Gurpreet Singh of Bharat Petroleum converted the penalty stroke to reduce the margin (3-5). <p>Jalandhar, Oct. 13: Spirited Namdhari XI entered the Semi Finals of the 28th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament after beating Oil and Natural Gas Commission Dehradun by 4-1 at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. Where as Air India Mumbai beat Punjab &amp; Sind Bank by  2-1to reserve their berth in the semi finals. In First semi finals Namdhari XI will take on Air India, where as Holders Indian Oil will take on Bharat Petroleum in second semi finals.<br /><br />In Pool B's Last league match Namdhari XI boys combined well from the word go. Namdhari XI took lead in the 35th minute of the play when Manjinder Singh netted the ball from penalty corner (1-0). In the second half Namdhari’s conrolled the game. In the 52nd minute of the play Sukhchain singh scored the field goal to consolidate (2-0). In the 62nd minute of the play Gurpreet Singh scored the field goal from the lovely pass of Jasjeet Kular (3-0). In the 66th minute of the play Lakhwinder Singh scored the goal after dodging goal keeper (4-0). In the 69th minute of the play ONGC able to reduce the margin, when Diwakar Ram converted the penalty corner (1-4).<br /><br />The second match of day played in the Pool D between Air India Mumbai and Punjab &amp; Sind Bank. Air India took lead in the 14th minute of the play when Rahul Shilpkar converted the penalty corner (1-0). In the 33rd minute of the play Vikramjit Singh equalized with the penalty corner conversion (1-1). In the 36th minute of the second half Air India once again took the lead with penalty corner conversion by skipper Sameer Dad (2-1). <p>Jalandhar, Oct. 12: Holders Indian Oil Mumbai entered the semi finals of the 28th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament after beating Punjab Police by 4-1 in the last league match of the Pool A at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. In the second match Bharat Petroleum also reserve their breath in semis after beating Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala by 3-1.<br /> <br />In Pool A Indian Oil Mumbai played combined well from the start of the game. Where Punjab Police without the Olympian Gaganajit Singh not able to impress.  In the 8th minute of the play Indian Oil's Dharmvir Singh opened the account from penalty corner (1-0). In the 19th minute of the play Gagandeep Singh sounded the board from the pass of Deepak Thakur from left Flank (2-0). At half time Indian Oil was leading by 2-0.  In the 59th minute of the play Indian Oil’s Sarbjeet Singh scored the field goal (3-0). In the 63rd minute of the play Punjab Police players mounted the pressure and made attack from right flank their Jagmit singh scored the field goal to reduce the margin (1-3). In the 66th minute of the play Dharmvir Singh scored the field goal (4-1).<br /><br />Day's second match in Pool C played between Bharat Petroleum and Rail Caoch Factory Kapurthala in very fast note. Bharat Petroleum earned first penalty corner in the 20th minute of the play but Gurpreet Singh hard shot went out after touching the goal Post. In the 26th minute of the play RCF’s boys got first penalty corner, their Balwinder Singh netted the ball (1-0). At half time RCF was leading by 1-0.  After lemon break in the 38th minute of the play Bharat Petroleum’s Amar Ayamma scored the equalizer (1-1). In the 50th minute of the play Bharat Petroleum’s Gurpreet Singh converted the penalty corner (2-1). In the second match Air India Mumbai beat Corp. of Signals by 3-2 to earn three full points.<br /><br />In Pool B ONGC and PNB Delhi boys combined well in the first half of the play. In the 19th minute of the play Diwakar Ram converted the penalty corner (1-0). In the 39th minute of the second half of the play PNB Captain Jalwinder Singh scored the equalizer (1-1). After that ONGC Boys displayed fast and controlled game. In the 48th minute and 51st minute of the play  ONGC’s Pramod Kumar scored two goals (3-1). In the 57th minute of the play Bikash Toppo scored the field goal after dodging goalkeeper (4-1). In the 59th minute of the play Preetinder Singh of ONGC scored the fifth goal for his team (5-1). In the dying minutes of the game Diwakar Ram converted another penalty corner to complete the tally (6-1). Punjab National Bank now out of the race of semi finals of the tournament. Where as ONGC will take on Namdhari XI in the next match.<br /><br />Second match of the day played between Air India Mumbai and Corp. of Signals Jalandhar in Pool D. In the first half of the game Indian Oil players not able to combined well but in second half they dominated the proceedings. In the 32nd minute of the play Olympian Deepak Thakur sounded the board (1-0). In the 42nd minute of the play Didar Singh converted the penalty corner (2-0). In the 50th minute of the play Affan Yousuf scored the field goal (3-0). In the 66th minute of the play Deepak Thakur struck once again (4-0). In the dying minutes  of the game skipper Inderjit Singh scored (5-0). With this win Indian Oil bagged three points. Where as EME Jalandhar lost both the matches in the tournament. Now Indian Oil will take on Punjab Police on 12th  October. <br /><br />In the second match Bharat Petroleum Mumbai and Border Security Force Jalandhar locked 1-1 draw and got one point each. Bharat Petroluem took lead in the 30th minute of the play when Gurpreet Singh converted the penalty corner (1-0). In the second half in 65th minute of the play Hatinder Singh equalized (1-1). Match ended 1-1 draw. In the very first minute of the play PNB took lead , when Arjun sounded the board from right flank (1-0). After that Namdhari’s put pressure on Bank but not able to equalize. In the 40th minute of the second half of the play Bankman consolidated with penalty corner conversion by Jalwinder Singh (2-0). After that Namdhari bounced back. In 57th minute of the play Harmeet Singh reduced the margin (1-2). In the 59th minute Manjinder Singh scored the equalizer after dodging two defenders for Namdhari’s (2-2). In the last minute of the game Namdhari not able to utilize golden chance to score. Due to draw both teams bagged one point each.<br /><br /><strong>Rail Coach factory Kapurthala beat Border Security Force Jalandhar</strong><br />In Pool C Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala grounded Border Security Force Jalandhar by 3-1. In the first half of the game both teams not able to score. In the second half hockey was played on very fast note. In the 42d minute of the play Security man Mandeep Singh sounded the board (1-0). After that RCF boys combined well. In the 48th minute RCF’s Simrandeep singh netted the ball from the first penalty corner for equalizer (1-1). In the 55th minute of the play Gagandeep Singh of RCF put their team on winning path (2-1). In the 61st minute of the play Rail Coach Factory’s Deepak completed the score sheet with the field goal (3-1). With this will Rail Coach Factory bagged their points from their first match.</p>

<p>Jalandhar, Oct. 8: Punjab Police Jalandhar and Punjab and Sind bank Delhi opened their account with wins on the inaugural day of 28th IndianOil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park here today. Punjab Police beat EME Jalandhar by 4 - 0 and Punjab &amp; Sind Bank beat Corp of Signal Jalandhar by 4 - 0. Earlier Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab in place of Dr. Upinderjit Kaur Finance Minister Punjab. He announced grant of Rs 2 lakhs on behalf of Bibi Opinderjit Kaur.</p>

<p>In the augural Match Punjab &amp; Sind Bank displayed good game. In the 10th minute of the play Kulwinder Singh opened the account (1-0). In the 15th minute of the match DIlair Singh sounded the board from the penalty corner (2-0). In the 22nd minute of the play Karamjit Singh consolidated with field goal (3-0). In the 31st Minute of the play Vikramjit Singh netted the ball from penalty corner (4-0). At half time Punjab &amp; Sind Bank leading by 4-0. In the second half both teams not able to change the score sheet.</p>
<p>Punjab Police Jalandhar defeat EME Jalandhar<br /><br />Spirited Punjab Police Jalandhar edged out EME Jalandhar by 4-0 in the first match in Pool A. Olympian Gaganajit singh and Baljit singh Dhillon played good hockey for Punjab Police.  Punjab Police opened their account in the 25th minute of the play when Jagmit singh scored the field goal from the right flank (1-0). In the 38th minute of the second half Punjab Police consolidated, when from the pass of  Gaganajit singh  police’s Satwinder singh sounded the board (2-0). In the 41st minute of the play Olympian Baljit Singh Dhillon converted the penalty corner (3-0). In the 44th minute of the play Satwinder singh scored another field goal to complete the tally (4-0).             <title>IndianOil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament 2011 begins today</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Jalandhar, Oct. 7 : The stage is set for 28th edition of the IndianOil SERVO Surjit Hockey Tournament, which begins tomorrow here at local Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park.<br /><br />Tournament is organized every year by the Surjit Hockey Society, Jalandhar to keep the name of ex-Olympian late Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa, former skipper of Indian Hockey Team alive, who lost his life in a fatal car accident near Jalandhar on January 7th, 1984, while fighting hard for up-liftment of the National Game of Hockey in our Country.<br /><br />According to Mr. Priyank Bharti, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar, who is also the President of the Surjit Hockey Society that both Pakistani teams, namely Punjab-XI and Asif Bajwa Hockey Club, Sialkot will not be seen in action during the tournament as Pakistan teams delayed in applying permission.<br /><br />Mr. Priyank Bharti further said that the 28th edition of the tournament will be played on knockout-cum-league basis on the polytan turf. The tournament committee is expected to attract hockey followers in large number as this year also the spectators who come to witness the hockey matches and the players/officials who will participate in this tournament will get Two Nano car as prize on the final day. These Nano cars shall be decided by draw of lot and every day each spectators will be issued a lucky coupons for 8 days where as the players/officials will be given lucky coupons on the day of the first match. The matches will be played under flood lights in the stadium and no gate entry money will be charged to the spectators who will come to witness the game of hockey.             <description><![CDATA[<p><img class="imgborder" src="http://www.surjithockey.in/images/stories/website/news/29-9-2011.jpg" border="0" width="620" height="245" /><br /><br />Jalandhar,  Sept. 29: Two foreign teams from Pakistan will be the main attraction of the 28th edition of the IndianOil SERVO Surjit Hockey Tournament, scheduled to be held here at local Olympian Surjit polytan turf Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park from October 8 to 15.<br /><br />According to the Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar Mr. Priyank Bharti, who is also the President of the Surjit Hockey Society, that the tournament is organized every year by Society to keep the name of Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa, ex-Olympian alive, who lost his life in a fatal car accident near Jalandhar on January 7th, 1984, while fighting hard for up-liftment of the National Game of Hockey in our Country.  The 28th edition of the tournament would be played on knockout-cum-league basis.  Two teams have been placed in knock out stage while 11 teams including two foreign teams have been seeded directly into quarter final league. Two teams will qualify from the matches of the knockout stage matches. Both teams locked at 2-2 at the end of stipulated time. The winners bagged Rs two lakh Fifty thousands and Runners up bagged Rs. One lakh fifty thousand along with trophies. Sukhbir Singh Badal Deputy Chief Minister Punjab gave away the prizes to the winners. Air India’s captain Sammer Dad declared man of the match where as Chiklengsena of Indian Railways declared man of the tournament and he bagged Rs. 21000.</p>

<p>In Finals Star Studded Air India Mumbai  and Indian Oil Players displayed good hockey. The spectators enjoys Indian Style Hockey from the word go. Air India  mounted pressure from the start of the match. In the 6th minute of the play Air India Mumbai earned the first penalty corner, International Star V. Vinay scored after dodging Indian Oil Goalkeeper Devesh Chohan (1-0). In the 19th minute of the play Air India missed another penalty corner. In the 28th minute of the play Indian Oil Forwards Deepak Thakur and Prabjot Singh mounted pressure, they earned first penalty corner, their International star Raghu Nath equalized (1-1). After that Deepak Thakur and Prabhjot Singh wasted three chances. Where as Sandeep Micheal and Samir Dad wasted two chances. At lemon break both the teams were locked at 1-1. In the 39th minute of the second half Indian  Oil took the lead when Captain Inderjit Chadha scored the field goal (2-1). In the 65th minute of the play Sandeep Micheal equalized (2-2). In Tie breaker For Indian Oil Arjun Antil, Ramandeep Singh, Roshan Minj and V Raghu Nath scored. For Air India Lalit, Amir Khan and Ajmer singh scored.</p>

In the 28th minute of the play Air India took lead from the stick of Amir Khan from a pass of Olympian Dhanraj Pillay (1-0). In the 32nd minute of the play ONGC mounted pressure, they earned third penalty corner, This time Mandeep Antil netted the ball (1-1). In the second half both teams tried hard to get lead but not able to get so. In the 66th minute of the play Olympian Dhanraj Pillay completed the tally with lovely goal from right flank (2-1).</p>

In the 62nd minute Prabhjot struck once again (4-1). In the very next minute Innocent Kullu scored for Railways (2-4). Today in the last league matches ONGC Delhi beat holders Bharat Petroleum Mumbai  by 2-1 to reserve bearth in the semis with six points from two outings. . In the second match Indian Railways  trounced Javed Hockey Club Gojra ( Pakistan)  by 8-1 to enter semis. On Goal Average Punjab &amp; Sind Bank not able to reserve bearth in the semis. Railways and Bank earned four points each but on better goal average Indian Railways went ahead.  Both semi finals will be telecast live on PTC Chak De Channel from 5-30 P.M.</p>
<p>In Pool A Bharat Petroleum and ONGC Delhi played splended hockey. In the 20th minute of the play Gurpreet Singh netted the ball from the second penalty corner for Bharat Petroleum (1-0). At lemon break Bharat Petroleum was leading by 1-0. In the second half ONGC made remarkable come back. In the 38th and 42nd minute of the play Diwakar ram scored from two penalty corners in a row (2-1). Both teams earned three penalty corners each.</p>

In the second half in 44th and 58th minutes Railways’s Chinglensena ,in 47th minute Innocent Kulu, In 53rd  and 62nd minutes Gagandeep Singh scored goals for Railways.             <description><![CDATA[<p>Indian Oil Mumbai trounced Border Security Force Jalandhar by 5-1 to register second victory in the Quarter Finals league and become the first team to enter the semi finals of the Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. In the second match Air India toyed with Air Asia Malaysia by 7-2 to register first victory in the tournament.</p>

<p>Indian Oil displayed good game from the word go. In the fifth minute of the play Indian Oil opened the account from the penalty corner conversion by Raghu Nath (1-0). In the 24th   and 38th minute of the play Roshan Minj scored two field goals from the passes of Olympian Prabhjot Singh ( 3-0). In 54th minute Deepak Thakur struck from the third penalty corner (4-0). In 66th minute of the play Olympian Prabhjot Singh scored the lovely goal from the left flank (5-0). In the dying minute of the game BSF earned the penalty corner, their Mukhjinder Singh scored to reduce the margin (1-5). With this  win Indian Oil got six points from two outings.</p>
<p>In the second match Star studded Air India displayed fast and controlled hockey under Olympian Dhanraj Pillay. In the 4th minute Air Asia Malasia’s Amir Farid sounded the board with cracking shot from top of the D (1-0). After that Air India won’t allow Malaysian boys to mount pressure. In 6th and 33rd minute V.S Vinay, In 10th minute Sandeep Micheal, In 15th minute Amir Khan and in 21st minute Joga Singh scored goals for Air India (5-1). In second half’s 50th minute Dhanraj Pillay sounded the board (6-1). In the very next minute Malaysian boys reduced the margin, when Faiz Haumi scored from the left flank (2-6). In the 56th minute Air India’s Lalit scored the goal (7-2).</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Oil and Natural Gas commission ( ONGC) Delhi exited Punjab Police Jalandhar by 5-3 in the 27th Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. ONGC Bagged three points from this match. Where as Punjab Police Jalandhar now out of the race of semis, as they recived second defeat in the quarter final league. In  the other match Indian Oil trounced Namdhari XI by 5-2. to earn three points. Now Namdhari XI are out of the race of Semis.<br /> <br />ONGC played good game in the first half but Punjab Police dominated in the second. ONGC took the lead in the 23rdminute when their Captain Bikas toppo scored the field goal (1-0). In the 32nd minute ONGC consolidated through penalty corner conversion by Diwakar ram (2-0). In the 34th minute of the Bikas toppo struck once again (3-0). In the second half’s 39th minute Punjab police got the first penalty corner, Jugraj Singh converted (1-3). In the 42nd minute ONGC increased their lead, when Diwakar ram converted the penalty stroke (1-4). In the 46th and 50th minutes Punjab Police’s Satbir Singh scored two field goals (3-4). In the 54rd minute ONGC’s Bikas Toppo completed the tally (5-3).</p>

<p>Second Match of the day played in Pool B between Indian Oil and Namdhari XI . Star Studded Indian Oil dominated the proceedings. In the 25th minute Deepak Thakur netted the ball fro the pass of Prabjot Singh (1-0). In the 27th minute Roshan Minj consolidated ( 2-0). In 31st minute Ragunath converted the penalty corner (3-0). In the 55th minute of the second half Raghu Nath struck once again ( 4-0). In the 57th minute Prabjot Singh scored the field goal (5-0). In the 61st minute of the play Malak Singh scored for the Namdhari XI (1-5).. In the dying minutes of the match Navjot Singh of Namdhari XI scored the field goal (2-5).</p>

In the other match Army XI beat Air Asia Malaysia by 2-1.<br /><br /></p>

<p>In Pool A Both teams played good hockey. In the 11th minute of the play Bharat Petroleum got th lead when Gurpreet Singh struck through penalty corner (1-0). In the 24th minute of the play Punjab Police got the equalizer from the stick of Amit singh from right flank(1-1). In the 33rd minute of the play Petroleum men took lead once again when their star Forward Amar Ayamma netted the ball ( 2-1). In the 54th minute of the play Punjab Police once again got the equalizer, when Prabhdeep Singh scored from left flank (2-2). In the 61st minute of the play Bharat Petroleum scored the winning goal, the goal scored by Hari Prasad (3-2). With this win Bharat Petroleum earned three full points  league.<br /><br /></p>

Three minutes later Army XI once again mounted the pressure and this time their Arumugam netted the ball (2-0). At lemon break Army XI was leading by 2-0. In the 38th minute of the play Malaysian boys earned the first penalty corner, their captain Noor Fazeez Ibrahim netted the ball (1-2). After that Malaysia boys tried hard but not able to equalize. In the 5th minute of the play Shivdeep Singh  opened the account. In the 35th minute of the play equalizer comes from the stick of Prabdeep Singh (1-1). In the 40th minute of the second half Jugraj Singh of Punjab Police scored the winning goal for the Punjab Police.<br /><br /><strong>Border Security Force Jalandhar beat Namdhari XI Sirsa by 1-0 to and earned full points</strong><br /><br />In the second match of knock out stage Border Security force scored in the all alone goal in the 7th minute of the match.The goal scored by Mandeep Singh. Namdhari XI Sirsa earned six penalty corners but BSF's goal keeper made some good saves.<br /><br />
